The original monument was gifted to the city by Baltic construction company for 300th anniversary and placed on the square of Alexander Nevsky. The author of the monument is V. G. Kozenyuk. Knyaz Alexander Yaroslavovich, named Nevsky, is considered as the city’s saint patron, and the piece of relics is preserved in Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The monument was made of bronze and granite. It’s height is 8.85 meters.
Grand opening of the Alexander Nevsky monument took place on the Victory Day, May 9th, 2002.
